Statutory leave entitlements
The government-mandated minimums for parental leave in Singapore. These are the same figures SMEasy's compliance report measures your leave policies against — this page is rendered from that data, not retyped alongside it.
| Leave type | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Government-Paid Maternity Leave (GPML) |
112 days
16 weeks
|
For an eligible working mother. Usually taken as 16 weeks. |
| Government-Paid Paternity Leave (GPPL) |
28 days
4 weeks
|
For an eligible working father. Increased to 4 weeks and made mandatory for births from 1 April 2025. |
| Shared Parental Leave (SPL) |
70 days
10 weeks
|
Shareable between eligible parents. 10 weeks for births from 1 April 2026; births between April 2025 and March 2026 fall under a 6-week transitional entitlement. |
| Childcare Leave | 6 days | Per parent, per year, for a child under 7. |
| Extended Childcare Leave | 2 days | Per parent, per year, for a child aged 7 to 12. |
Entitlements shown in calendar days. Eligibility conditions apply to each type — including the child's citizenship, the length of your employment and, for shared parental leave, the other parent's entitlement. Check mom.gov.sg and profamilyleave.gov.sg for the conditions and for reimbursement claims. These are minimums: you may offer more, and many employers do.
SMEasy checks your policies against these
All five types come preset when you sign up, and the statutory compliance report flags any leave policy configured below the minimum — so a policy that drifted out of date is something you are told about rather than something you discover during a dispute.
Approvals run through the officer chain on each employee record, balances update as leave is taken, and unpaid time reaches the payslip automatically.
Payroll, leave, attendance and duty roster included. No minimum, no contract.
